Rising hip-hop artist JL carries a unique blend of inspiration in his music. With influences such as Justin Timberlake, Michael Jackson, Jay-Z, and Alicia Keys, he creates songs that capture contemporary affairs all the while mixing rap and R&B elements. HIP Video Promo is pleased to present his latest video clip “I Close My Eyes,” a chilling account of the reality of drug use.
Born in Martins Ferry, Ohio, JL was singing at an early age. In 2000, he wrote his first song “Fallen Again” and experienced what studio life would be like. Up until 2005, JL honed his songwriting skills as much as possible having been featured on many mix tapes and producing an EP On the Low. In 2010, he released his album Out of the Shadows, which has received high praise from the single “Get It.” The up-tempo club song has been featured on the award-winning hip-hop website YoRaps.com, and the album also features hits such as “College Girls” and “Take Me.”
JL has also been nominated for Best R&B Male at the 2010 Underground Music Awards, was featured as YoRaps’ Next 2 Blow artist, and won the Golden Voice for the Grammy’s Contest, sending him to Los Angeles to take part in the Grammy Awards alongside fellow artists and musicians. HIP Video Promo introduces his haunting new video clip “I Close My Eyes,” which displays JL’s highly personal character. Click here for the full bio on the HIP Video website.
