This classicly styled work of art is running rampant with sultry temptation... "Eve", from an artist that embraces the past with an ear towards the future of music... Rebecca Jordan

The inviting sounds of Rebecca Jordan’s vocals are what makes this artist unique. Her ability to capture the soulful essence of artists of the past such as Billie Holiday and Aretha Franklin has encompassed the artistry of all that this talent has to offer the music scene. You may remember awhile back when we brought you Rebecca’s captivating cover of Fleetwood Mac’s classic “Dreams,” and now, from the forthcoming EP Asphalt Heart, we present her most recent clip “Eve,” an astonishing account of past and present musical influence.

This singer/songwriter grew up in Ohio studying classical piano and teaching herself guitar at a young age. Inspired by musical artists such as The Cure, Aretha Franklin, Tom Petty, and Joao Gilberto, she has created a balance between classic and contemporary music, making her songs strong and noteworthy. Since moving to New York City, Rebecca gained the 2010 Abe Olman Award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame, was a 2010 NPR Mountain Stage NewSong finalist, and received a 2011 Independent Music Award nomination for her self-released EP titled Souvenir. Jordan has written for well-known artists such as Kelly Clarkson and John Legend, and also co-wrote five songs for Alice Smith’s upcoming EP, executive produced by Citizen Cope.

Over the past few months, Rebecca has been focusing wholeheartedly on finally completing a her new EP, Asphalt Heart. In recent times, she debuted music to a packed house of fans at Brooklyn Academy of Music’s own BAM CafĂ©. Jordan performs, singing with a tilted head full of dreams in whimsical ways, making her appearance and vocals comparable to those of a beautiful songbird. Of her new single and video clip for “Eve,” Jordan expresses, “It speaks to the first romantic relationship we ever have—the one we have with our dreams.” The video is an account of inspiration within the past and present, and Jordan tells a story that is both remarkable and incredibly inspiring. Three new music videos courtesy of Communicating Vessels dropping soon: The Great Book Of John "Dark Star," Gregory Scott Slay "And When She Speaks," & Shaheed and DJ Supreme "Right Now"

The Great Book of John boldly wakes the slumbers of rock god’s to restore their creation as bluesy Southern rock ballads, emanating dreamy boy-girl harmonies that are intertwined with monster guitar solos. With an originality spanning from mysterious sources of influence, the band’s front man Taylor Shaw strikes sentimental chords with psychedelic elements of old-soul-esque vocal qualities. Singing from the very depths of his being, Shaw creates an atmospheric vibe that explores several different genres of music—rock, indie, soul, and blues.

However, the music they create is neither blues, nor rock, but rather containing an art of its own that adheres to the heavy spirits of these talented musicians. For instance, the band’s second and self-titled release The Great Book of John hit shelves in August of 2011 as a digital, CD, and vinyl release; the record was a deeply layered production brimming with amplified crunch. Their new video “Dark Star” is a sneak peek of their upcoming album set to be released for 2013, and it amplifies the natural fluidity of The Great Book of John’s ability to woe and weave their audience into a state of constant relief.
After the release of their famous rendition of the Aussie rock band INXS’ “Never Tear Us Apart” in 2011, The Great Book of John has captured the ears of indie-rock video fans across the nation. These Alabama natives own the extraordinary gift of creating lasting music that is reminiscent of Jeff Buckley and powerful blues artists such as Stevie Ray Vaughn. They followed that up earlier this year with “Simple Things,” a powerful video that was rich in metaphors and developed an in depth storyline about the evils of temptation and greed. For the new video “Dark Star”, the band has decided to showcase possibly their greatest strength, their performance. Click here for the full bio!

Earlier this year we introduced to you the “Keep It Secret” video from Gregory Scott Slay, which was brought to you posthumously from his album Horsethief Beats / The Sound Will Find You. Upon his untimely passing, Remy Zero drummer Gregory Scott Slay left behind a plethora of fans, friends and family who all mourned his passing in their own personal ways. But as time has passed these same people have also come together to do their part to continue Slay’s legacy and share with the world his innovative songs and creations that he left behind as his final gift.

What makes his music so remarkable is the mere fact that Gregory was aware of his mortality while creating Horsethief Beats / The Sound Will Find You. Throughout the record, voices of Slay’s wife and cooing of his young daughter can be heard, while his own father, HAN Slay, prominent saxophonist, also makes contributions to the record. The album was released with the help of Slay’s close friend and musical confidant of the band Remy Zero, Jeffrey Cain. Within this unique story of life and death, Slay allows us to enter the world of a man battling cystic fibrosis and his incredible ability to squeeze the most of this short life.

Gregory Scott Slay was an Emmy nominated artist and founding member of the well-known rock band, Remy Zero. After Remy Zero’s break-up in 2003, Slay co-wrote and recorded the title theme for the ultra-popular and controversial television series Nip/Tuck, for which earned his Emmy nomination. His best friend Jeffrey Cain aspires to present the world with Slay’s moving and monumental music and he says, “My plan is to keep releasing Gregory's music and videos so that a new underground audience can discover his life's work. I like to think that some kid in a small town watching public access might see this late at night and have their world change.” Without further adieu, Jeffrey Cain and his label Communicating Vessels presents one of Slay’s most profound items of work, “And When She Speaks,” that can be compared to that of a highly influential masterpiece of art. From the underground clubs within Birmingham, Alabama, artists Shaheed & DJ Supreme are combining classic elements of original hip-hop beats with lyrics of the future. These in-your-face-musicians can be seen performing with artists such as Akil, the MC of Jurassic 5, and with a highly anticipated upcoming album that can be expected to be delivered in early 2013, there is nothing that can stop Shaheed and his influential confidant, DJ Supreme. The entire staff of HIP Video Promo are pleased to introduce the stylish and all-around fluidity of their music video “Right Now.”

Communicating Vessels recording artists Shaheed & DJ Supreme are on a constant rise to stardom within the contemporary music scene. Known as one of hip-hop’s most consistent groups, Shaheed and DJ Supreme don’t exactly fit the mold of most typical dirty-southern rap artists—they are what we would call practitioners of traditional and classic hip-hop elements. With the release of two critically acclaimed Lps, Health Wealth & Knowledge of Self and Scholar Warrior (a remix album), Shaheed’s sharp lyrical dexterity is showcased as DJ Supreme’s soul-infused production looms in the background. The albums also include guest appearances from artists such as Akil of Jurassic 5, Amir Sulaiman, and W. Ellington Felton.

As a group, Shaheed & DJ Supreme have shared the stage with many artists on the hip-hop scene including Raekwon, DJ Shiftee, The Bodega Brovas and Stalley, as well as label mates, The Green Seed. The much anticipated third LP Knowledge, Rhythm, and Understanding is set to be released early next year on Communicating Vessels. In the meantime, Shaheed & DJ Supreme are lighting up the streets of Birmingham, making appearances throughout local hip-hop clubs. Their newest release “Right Now” foreshadows what’s to come on the album Knowledge, Rhythm, and Understanding, and the clip promotes the inspirational sounds of all that Shaheed & DJ Supreme encompass. Set in the now famous The Bottletree in Alabama, an astounding club where artists collide, “Right Now” constitutes the ever-prominent necessity of Shaheed & DJ Supreme’s music. Please welcome... Katie Cole!

If you were to talk about artists such as Jackson Browne, Glen Campbell and Kris Kristofferson, you'd expect to see them listed as influences for an artist hoping to make their name as a songsmith with more hooks than Muhammed Ali and a musical attention to detail that is second to none. But when we're talking Katie Cole, they're not just influences, they're also her friends and musical contemporaries. So how does an up and coming artist like Cole manage to appear onstage with Jackson Browne, as a guest vocalist on Campbell's 61st and final studio album, Ghost on the Canvas, and enlist Kristofferson to appear her own upcoming full length, Lay It All Down? Because she's not just hoping to make a name for herself and songwriting prowess, she's already done it and has enlisted some very talented friends along the way!

Katie Cole was raised in the beautiful city of Melbourne, Australia and grew up surrounded by the sounds of the Stones, Hendrix, Joplin, Maria Callas; all compliments of her musically inclined parents. Along the way she dove into Smashing Pumpkins, Aretha Franklin and Eurythmics, all of which helped her craft her own self-described sound of having flavors of Sheryl Crow, KT Tunstall and Tom Petty. She quickly established herself touring across Australia and releasing her first EP, all of which raised her profile enough that she would eventually be discovered by acclaimed producer Howard Willing. His credits include Counting Crows, Liz Phair, and Ok Go, as well as artists like Sheryl Crow and Smashing Pumpkins that Cole lists as some of her primary influences.

It wasn't long after a permanent move to Los Angeles that Katie began making the rounds of LA, as well as Nashville, collaborating with a plethora of songwriting talent. Her first offering was the critically acclaimed Lost Inside A Moment EP, which received two spots on BBC Radio 2 playlists, awards from organizations such as ASCAP and OurStage, and having her song "Gravity" become the sound behind the national ad campaign for the Movado brand of watches. Combining these experiences as well as the time she spent in the presence of legends such as Glen Campbell and Kris Kristofferson, Cole has channeled it all together to pull off what is her finest offering yet with Lay It All Down. Set to be released in early 2013, the album once again finds Howard Willing behind the glass and offers songs that invoke the classic sounds of artists such as Tom Petty and Fleetwood Mac, and contemporary stars such as Brandi Carlile. Cole describes it as "somewhere between American country and British pop". The lead single for "I Can't Wait" is already receiving spins on BBC Radio 2, and is setting to impact here in the US as we type. Click HERE for the full bio!

Introducing... Amy Lynn & the Gun Show!

The clearly defined and radiant sounds of Amy Lynn & The Gunshow are known to have “the humor and sass of Bette Midler paired with the rawness of Janis Joplin,” but these statistics aren’t what brought Andy Gesner and the HIP Video Promo staff to its knees. The awe-inspired new video for “Clearly It’s Me” contains root notes that echo classic divas such as Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, and Mariah Carey while the 60s pop-rock sound puts forth a soul driven energy that is just what contemporary music fans need.

Amy Lynn Zanetto pulls off an extreme balance of her own unique flair while sporting sexy mini-dresses and classy stiletto heels. Her sensible, down-to-earth demeanor is intertwined by accents of humor and fun, making the role of this front woman hard to miss. The Gunshow is lead by lovebirds Amy and Alex, which contains an undeniable 60s rock infused sound. The infectious horn blows are especially fruitful, which helps aid this showcase in presenting the music scene with their collaborative talents. Together, and sometimes apart, Amy Lynn & The Gunshow have performed for audiences around the world with inspiring artists of today such as Duffy, Yo La Tengo, Spoon, St. Vincent, Lucy Woodward, and The Radio City Orchestra.

Recently, Amy and Alex’s single “Missing You” aired on the WB network’s show Big Easy Brides. They have been featured on radio stations that are broadcasted throughout the US, Canada, and Japan. Amy Lynn & The Gunshow’s music contains raw energy and standout showmanship, and it’s no wonder that their live performances have landed them gigs at New York City’s top venues including The Bitter End, Highline Ballroom, Joe’s Pub, The Mercury Lounge, and The Bell House. These performances have received glowing reviews, and this incredible energy that they put forth can be witnessed in their most recent music video, “Clearly It’s Me.” Click here for the full bio!

These three videos bring you the highs, the lows, and everything in between... "What Yo Name Is," "Stonerz Night," & "Fired Up," by an emerging star MC with many miles under his belt... TRIGG DA KIDD!

Rising hip-hop artist Trigg Da Kidd has experienced a plethora of life altering struggles, yet he has hustled his way to the top within the contemporary hip-hop scene. Keeping his roots from Michigan and North Carolina close, Trigg has developed a fresh and unique style that has led his musical career to utmost importance. HIP Video Promo brought you “Racks and Rubberbands” and “Alien Is” earlier this year, and with the release of three upcoming videos, Trigg Da Kidd has made himself an influential staple on the hip-hop music scene.

With a sound reminiscent of Lil Wayne and references to classic hip-hop all stars such as Run DMC, Trigg Da Kidd has made his own set of rules. After a series of brief crime sprees during his youth, Trigg realized his personal endeavors, or lack there of, were taking the place of his life-long dreams of musical creation. Trigg cleaned up and spent time working on the creation of his first debut album titled Ceilin Fans. With the promotion of several college tours, he collaborated with label mate Brandon Thomas and founded the E365 Empowerment Group for troubled teens. In time, he created music that served the purpose of guidance for troubled youth.

Trigg Da Kidd’s previous video “Racks and Rubberbands” won the mtvU Freshman voting contest, and from the highly anticipated mixtape Trigganometry 101, HIP Video Promo presents three of the most entertaining videos that Trigg has ever released known to date. In “What Yo Name Is,” Trigg presents viewers with a clip that is fast paced and exciting. We watch as this rising artist hits the clubs, seducing women as he stylishly moves from club to club. The idea of swag is constant and Trigg maintains this mentality in a way that is utterly contagious. The musical elements of “What Yo Name Is” capture timeless beats reminiscent of classic hip-hop.

The second clip “Stonerz Night” follows Trigg throughout the excitement of a house party. The fluorescent lights add a certain energy to the song, making it easy to be heard from club to club. “Fired Up” is the third video and it contains all of the pyrotechnics to make you feel on edge. From fire to bright lights, Trigg is dressed all in black, lighting the entire hip-hop scene on fire in this menacing, yet charismatic clip. Combined, the videos all represent the fluidity of Trigg Da Kidd’s demeanor, and his flow and vocals are undeniable. Click here for the full bio!

Check out the latest news on Boston's Silhouette Rising!

James from Silhouette Rising recently updated their fans on the group's upcoming TRILOGY of EP's that will be available in the not-too-distant future in a blog post he posted. Lot's of exciting news! Check it out ...

"The more things change, the more they stay the same." That sentiment rings true on Silhouette Rising's latest effort. The group is currently recording the first, of a concept EP trilogy titled Happiness. It's the ongoing internal struggles the group has always faced that inspires their latest effort.

Silhouette has always struggled with line up changes. The difference is this time they embraced it and created a pop album with it's darkest overtones to date. "This album deals with all the heavy things that most of us don't care to talk about. It's an album about relationship struggles, depression, sex, drugs, rock and roll…the heavy stuff." On the last album lyricist, James DiNanno took a lighter approach. This album gets up close and personal. Brother, Rob DiNanno shapes this EP with funky melodies on the keyboard.

The group went back to their roots for the upcoming release, and began writing like it might be the last album they get to make. They will begin shooting music videos for the first two singles "Rehab" and "Kentucky" within the month. The videos will closely follow the satirical approach the group took on the "Ode To Vandalism" videos.

"Happiness I" is due out early December with a single release in late November. Silhouette Rising plans to follow it with a tour alongside acts such as Spots, The Life Electric, and potentially some shows with Jamestown Story.

An all-time HIP favorite returns with a Soviet sci-fi inspired cinematic treat... "Sherman", from a beloved band with a sound like no other... PINBACK

Greetings programming friends, it’s Andy Gesner and the HIP crew with some very exciting news for you! One of our all time favorite clients is at it again—from the new album Information Retrieved, Pinback presents a full throttled account of space invasion and exploration in the upcoming video “Sherman.” In the past they brought you some of the most invigorating and inspirational songs such as “Penelope” and “Fortress,” and their newest innovations echo their timeless sense of outstanding musical creation. Both Rob Crow and Armistead Burwell Smith IV have earned special places in our musical hearts!

NPR Music says, “Pinback’s leader, Rob Crow, has carved out a distinct identity as a storyteller with a unique sound,” and it isn’t hard to recognize his ability of crafting artful stories through their captivating music. Over the years, Pinback has maintained a unique sound that has been influencing thousands of new artists. Quickly establishing themselves with Blue Screen Life and Summer In Abaddon, Pinback found the most creative way to express lasting music that has proved itself timeless. The band’s moniker is a reference to the cult classic 1974 film Dark Star, directed by John Carpenter. Audio samples from this film have even been featured throughout the band’s early works.

Pinback’s fourth full-length album Autumn of the Seraphs was released in early September of 2007, hailed by Pitchfork as “uniformly gorgeous.” But since then, it has been a long five years for diehard Pinback fans waiting for new material. Fortunately, as we’ve come to expect from this elaborate duo, the new release titled Information Received is well worth the wait, and may even be their strongest effort yet! It marks their first release for Temporary Residence Ltd. who also brought you the Explosions In The Sky “Last Known Surroundings” video in 2011.

The new video for “Sherman” was largely inspired by the low-budget films of the Cold War era without any CGI special effects—all visual effects are in-camera! Directed by Matt Hoyt of Wormwood Films, “Sherman” pays homage to the monumental elements of science fiction fantasy. Read the full bio HERE.

Introducing... The Vettes!

In these modern times, contemporary music needs some sort of twist in hilarity that can pull all the types of music genres together, and that’s exactly what The Vettes, formed of family members, does. The contemporary music label 33rd Floor Records brings you a band that is up to speed with the modern age, but reminiscent of the music from past decades. With influences that range from bands such as Flock of Seagulls and Aha, to artists such as Oasis, Elastica, and Duran Duran, The Vettes is the first new wave of power driven alternative-rock to come about within the indie-rock music scene.

The Vettes include Rachel, Todd, Chad, Mitch, and Brian Vette, all sister and brothers with the exception of Mitch who was honorably adopted into the band after joining in 2005. Lead vocalist and sister Rachel Vette explains, “In order to fully grasp the concept, one must first dismiss the preconceived notions of all the real life and fictitious family band stereotypes we’ve all come to know and hate.” Each member began joining one another in creating and performing music early throughout their late teens and early twenties.

Since 2005, The Vettes have been turning heads and making a concise name for themselves throughout their hometown in New Orleans, Louisiana, as well as throughout the US. The Vettes have released a countless number of demo CDs before the official release of 2008’s T.V. EP and 2010’s full-length PLASTICVILLE. They were seen performing at 2011’s Voodoo Fest in Louisiana, sharing the stage with well-known acts such as TV on the Radio, Soundgarden, and Odd Future. This year they are upping their game, performing at 2012’s Voodoo Fest alongside such heavyweights as Metallica and Silversun Pickups, as well as K’naan, Justice and more! Their newest single, “Textual”, was produced by one of the hottest and most in-demand producers, Junior Sanchez (Katy Perry, Madonna, Good Charlotte), and is sure to bring The Vettes an even loftier position with their fanbase. Video Premiere: Patent Pending "Spin Me Around" via Billboard.com!

Today HIP alumni, Patent Pending debuted their heartfelt new music video for "Spin Me Around" on Billboard.com. Peep this great feature here and below:

Long Island, New York pop-punk band Patent Pending, who won Billboard's 2012 Battle of the Bands this spring and earned a performance at the Billboard Music Awards in the process, knows its way around high-energy, guitar-driven three-chord rockers. But the quintet shows off a more sensitive side with its video for the wistful, acoustic-tinged "Spin Me Around,"

If singer/guitarist Joe Ragosta seems especially adept at being the groom in the clip, which centers on his joyous wedding, it's little wonder since he recently tied the knot. Ragosta's fellow bandmates guitarist Rob Felicetti, drummer Anthony Mingoia, guitarist Marc Kantor and bassist Corey DeVincenzo appear in the video as ecstatic wedding guests.

"Spin Me Around" is the current single from Patent Pending's latest album, "Second Family." The hardworking, self-made band, who formed a decade ago, just kicked off a tour of the U.K. and Ireland that runs through the end of October.

Video Premiere: Pinback "Sherman" on Wired.com!

We're so thrilled to be a part of the Temporary Residence promotional team once again championing another amazing Pinback video. Their latest video for "Sherman" just premiered on Wired.com. Check  out what Wired had to say...

Pinback’s Rob Crow and Zach Smith touch down on a prehistoric planet in the new music video “Sherman,” exclusively premiered below. But their space boots follow in the obscure sci-fi footprints of 1962 cult Soviet film Planeta Bur.

“It had everything!” Pinback vocalist, guitarist and culture geek Crow told Wired about the oft-rebooted sci-fi flick. “Spaceships, a robot, a hovercar and a creepy scientist.”
Just a few years later, footage from the film was heavily grafted by low-budget cinema kingpin Roger Corman into Americanized B-movie rip-offs. Corman’s film “Voyage to the Prehistoric Planet took Planeta Bur, removed the credits, renamed the characters and added some American actors,” Crow said. “Then in 1968, Corman had Peter Bogdanovich take that film, add scenes of ladies in silly dresses throwing rocks at a statue on the beach, and call it Voyage to the Planet of Prehistoric Women.”

Crow has added his own fingerprints to the serial borrowing. He mashed all three films into visuals for Pinback’s extensive tour, which starts Nov. 9 in Philadelphia, in support of the indie rockers’ new release, Information Retrieved, released Tuesday by Temporary Residence Ltd. Platinum recording artist Eric Dill released his edgy and pop-rock inspired single “War With the Wolves” to mainstream radio earlier this September, and HIP Video Promo is delighted to introduce the video clip for this awe-inspiring song. The song is the first of three singles that will be released to radio throughout the upcoming year and the next, and “War With the Wolves” serves the purpose of presenting viewers with all that this star has to offer.

Eric Dill, known as the lead singer and guitarist of the popular pop-rock group The Click Five, has launched his solo music career. This critically acclaimed singer, songwriter, and musician is an Indianapolis native, known for selling out shows from across the world during the 2005 Backstreet Boys Tour and Ashlee Simpson’s North American Tour. Dill has appeared on major television shows such as Live with Regis and Kelly, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, MTV’s TRL, and Jimmy Kimmel Live. He has also played the male lead role in Sony Pictures movie Taking Five. However, he parted ways with the members of The Click Five in November of 2006 to begin focusing on his own ambitious and exciting solo career.

Dill has collaborated with well-known artists from contemporary bands such as fellow musicians of Nickelback, Chris Daughtry, and contestants from the television series American Idol. His first produced single “No Surprise” received a Platinum Album Award in 2009, along with two BMI Pop Awards during 2010. Dill is set to release his highly anticipated debut album Forever is Not Enough on Vigil Records in November, just in time for the holiday season! Dill’s unique style and personal views on life can be experienced within his music, and HIP Video Promo gives a warm welcome to Eric Dill with his new video for “War With the Wolves.” Full bio HERE.
