Chicago Rockers SOiL reunite and are set to drop huge new single, "Shine On"
The band went through brief line up changes until reuniting with original vocalist Ryan McCombs in October 2011 for a tour commemorating the tenth anniversary of their landmark album Scars. The band permanently rejoined with McCombs after his departure from Texas act Drowning Pool in late 2011. The line up is currently completed with fellow original members Tim King (Bass) and Adam Zadel (Guitar). The band has sold over one million records worldwide with their album “Scars” hitting Silver in the United Kingdom following the anniversary tour.
SOiL’s sixth studio album WHOLE will be released worldwide in August 2013 via AFM Records (worldwide) and Pavement Entertainment (North America). The album also sees the band going 100% independent with the release. “We wanted to call all the shots on this album and for the first time ever hold our future in our own hands” says bassist Tim King. This will mark the first album with original frontman Ryan McCombs since 2004′s re.de.fine. The new album sees SOiL returning to its classic sound that both fans and critics alike have come to admire. The band hails the new album as “An album that could have come directly after the “Scars” album”. Nate Currin returns with brilliant new single, "Vanity Fair"
The first video from the album is for the song “Vanity Fair”, and it visually feels like we have been transported back to 1678, existing in the catacombs beneath a Medieval city. The video is a sepia infused cornucopia of juggling thieves, depraved men, cheating wives and every kind of undesirable imaginable. Keeping them all entertained is the stoic and composed Currin, whose singular focus is a welcome bit of tranquility in this sea of questionable behavior. Introducing: The Grenadines & Preston Lovinggood --- courtesy of Communicating Vessels
The Grenadines, fronted by husband and wife Michael and Lauren Shakelford and featuring guitarist David Swatzell recently released their self-titled album which is described as “dream-drenched rock-and-roll cut through a southern lens.” The album creates a wide spectrum of sounds that are haunting, yet methodical, with occasional hints of Mazzy Star, M83 and even bursts of The Whitest Boy Alive.
This video, comical yet satirical in its’ approach, blends contemporary beats with rhythms that literally make the viewer want to dance. The seemingly deviant lead character is a young man who obsessively videotapes a young woman through her bedroom window as she dances. The atmosphere of Sun Songs is collectively vibrant, boasting bold harmonious notes of raw energy. Taylor Hollingsworth, known for work with Dead Fingers and Conor Oberst and The Mystic Valley Band, produced and recorded the record. The bluesy electric riffs, well-placed feedback, and sporadic drumming add a sweet essence to Preston’s crafty and warm vocals. There are many elements to this video that make it an easy and enjoyable watch. Introducing: JL
Born in Martins Ferry, Ohio, JL was singing at an early age. In 2000, he wrote his first song “Fallen Again” and experienced what studio life would be like. Up until 2005, JL honed his songwriting skills as much as possible having been featured on many mix tapes and producing an EP On the Low. In 2010, he released his album Out of the Shadows, which has received high praise from the single “Get It.” The up-tempo club song has been featured on the award-winning hip-hop website YoRaps.com, and the album also features hits such as “College Girls” and “Take Me.”
JL has also been nominated for Best R&B Male at the 2010 Underground Music Awards, was featured as YoRaps’ Next 2 Blow artist, and won the Golden Voice for the Grammy’s Contest, sending him to Los Angeles to take part in the Grammy Awards alongside fellow artists and musicians. Introducing: FLINTface
Joe is a survivor of both abuse and bullying, which set his formative years on a dark course of insecurity and depression. As an escape, Joe gravitated to the drums, finding solace in the healing powers of music. This passion grew in his teens, when he extended into urban R&B and Hip Hop, then onto sounds as disparate as extreme metal and even Woodstock-era melodic jams. Joe relocated to the mountains, where in his dual role as both vocalist and drummer an early live incarnation of FLINTface was formed. Teeming with endless energy, Joe thrived on live shows, becoming quite the charismatic showman replete with blindfolded percussion antics supported by crowd-thrilling stage dancers. FLINTface’s spiritual yet never preachy message is one of compassion for those that feel misplaced and mistreated because he is one of them, sharing his empathetic story at every gig. As he once said, “there’s so many people out there with a similar story and we need to carry each other!”
The new music video for “Ready For It” is a culmination of the FLINTface story so far, showing him wandering the streets of NYC, guitar in hand, living the life of a vagabond. Sleeping in cardboard boxes and showering in public restrooms would break most people’s spirit, but FLINTface takes it all in stride. The mood is sad, but still confident that things are going to change for the better. Scorsone’s live performance is interspersed, which after seeing the natural talent may be why the future still has hope. Things start to improve when he seats himself on a park bench and breaks out his guitar for anyone and everyone who will listen. And listen they do!

Moyet began her mainstream pop career in 1982 at the young age of 21. She formed the synth/pop duo known as Yazoo with former Depeche Mode member, Vince Clark having several hits such as “Only You,” “Don’t Go,” “Situation,” and “Nobody’s Diary.” By 1983, Moyet and Clarke decided to disband Yazoo where Moyet signed to CBS to embark on her solo career. Introducing: SOLARDRIVE
Getty began his acting career at the mere age of 14 in 1989 after auditioning for the lead role in the movie Lord of the Flies. During the 1990s and early 2000s, he appeared in various films such as Young Guns II, Ladder 49, Natural Born Killers, and Lost Highway and was even featured in the television miniseries Traffic. He has also guest-starred on TV series like Charmed, Alias, and Brothers & Sisters. Getty’s indie-rock band Ringside formed in Hollywood, California releasing the popular self-titled album under Fred Durst’s label Flawless Records and Geffen Records. The band released records and performed up until 2011.
The new project SOLARDRIVE is hands down this year’s most contemporary; “It was extremely liberating,” says Getty, describing a manic three weeks in which he holed up in his pool house/studio to self-produce the album using a Pro Tools rig that his wife and close friend Joaquin Phoenix together bought him. Containing a slew of impromptu recording sessions, three weeks later, Balthazar walked away with an “organically” created debut under the moniker of his new project, SOLARDRIVE.
The video clip “Be Alright” (which is coming soon) is a personal reflection of Balthazar’s relationship with his music. Viewers literally come face to face with the artist as he sings, all the while captivating his audience. Daily routines are being performed—eating, picking his teeth, etc.—yet we establish such a connection with this profound musician that it is hard to ignore. The song itself is a tune that describes contemporary indie music and transcends modern musicians, such as Miike Snow. The second clip “No Drama” features two noteworthy artists, TC and Kevin Hicks, and is the first single to be released off Getty’s debut album. We see the gritty underbelly of the nighttime in a city full of secrets, and we experience a breaking account of danger as Getty exemplifies modern music. Originally from Uganda, T-Cyde and 1der JR first met at a studio in Bristol where they had spent some time recording with the same producer. The two of them felt that it must have been fate or that it had been written in the stars, so they felt connected and knew they had to create music together.
With the same taste in music, the exact same musical visions, and clear ambitions, it only made sense for Cyde-1Der to collaborate. Although they knew they were destined to work together, they had no clue how successful their musical endeavors would become. After years of spending time together while working on music, Cyde-1Der have formed a natural following of fans in Uganda and the UK. However, their music is slowly spreading throughout the world, bringing the joy of music to each and every nation.
